GB’s Zoe Backstedt wins ladies’s junior street race at World Championships

Nice Britain’s Zoe Backstedt gained the ladies’s junior street race on the Street Biking World Championships in Belgium.

The Welsh 17-year-old outsprinted america’ Kaia Schmid on the finish of the 75km course in Leuven, with Germany’s Linda Riedmann clinching bronze.

Backstedt had already gained silver within the junior time trial occasion.

She additionally claimed a gold medal on the Cyclocross Junior World Cup earlier this 12 months.

Backstedt’s sister Elynor, 19, gained bronze within the Junior Street World Championships time trial in 2018 and 2019.

Her father Magnus took stage victories within the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia, and gained the Paris-Roubaix traditional in 2004, whereas her mom, Megan, competed for Wales on the Commonwealth Video games.
